This week both my pairs of good jeans were dirty at the same time. I wasn't going anywhere so I pulled out an old pair that has a hole in one knee (and more holes in various other places) to wear for the day. Although the jeans are the same size as the ones I currently wear and they technically still fit, it is a fit that is no longer comfortable. Apparently, I purchased these jeans when you could still buy jeans with an actual waist and a relaxed fit. As evidenced by their wear these used to be one of my main pairs of jeans but they had served their purpose and no longer fit in a way that was comfortable for me.
That got me thinking about other things in my life and how some things that used to fit me perfectly no longer seem quite as comfortable as they used to. Parts of my life that are habit, that continue because it has simply been that way for so long. Things that have served their purpose. Some things that must be left behind as I move in to something that is a perfect fit for where I am in my life NOW.
The jeans with the hole are not going back into the drawer even as a back up and I'm going to apply this thinking to other areas of my life as well. Asking myself whether something is a fit for me now or if it was once but no longer serves a purpose for me. I hope this exercise will help me lighten my load and find the things that truly are a perfect fit.
Do you have areas in your life that aren't fitting quite as well as they used to? How do you find your perfect fit?

WOW.
I need to think about this, and I'll be back. So much to digest! Thanks for a great post.
